The Planning Department is responsible for both current and long-range planning within the City. The City has contracted for these services which review land use proposals (e.g., use permits, parcel maps, subdivision maps, property line adjustments, variances, design review, etc.) and ensures compliance with state and local regulations, including, but not limited to, the City’s General Plan, including the Housing Element, and Zoning Code, the California Subdivision Map Act, and California Environmental Quality Act. The Planning and Zoning Department provides direction and leadership in implementing the goals, objectives, and policies of the City as adopted by the City Council.
